I had a strange experience here.
Somebody did send me a note concerning a commission. The note was written a bid unclear, so I was not sure whether the author actually knew that commissions are paid jobs, happened before.
So I just answered that in general I would do such a commission and send back a link to my commission rules (and prices). There was no answer. For quite some time.
I had (this year in particular) some of these cases, where people asked for a commission and then nothing more ever happened or they suddenly decided they didn't want one anymore.
Especially those who offer commissions themselves might understand how frustratin
Recently I read an article about if or when there will or will not be a new season of Sherlock. And there, Martin Freeman in his usual rather crabby manner said something like - no quote; No matter what they’ll do or won’t do, people will complain anyway, and he’s so tired of that; it’s no fun anymore to invest creative effort into something if you get all these shit storms of smart asses who hate everything that’s not exactly done how they would have done it.
I was a bit shocked. Not because of what he said – he’s absolutely right.
Who doesn’t have made experiences, also here on DA, with the
Mutant.
Abnormality.
Freak.
They're all just words. But they hurt. Time seems to slow, and they're all you can hear. They echo in your ears, dragging you under the surface, drowning you. You can't find your way back to shore.
Menace.
Monster.
Demon.
But you can't stop hearing them. They echo in your head, pulling you closer and closer to the darkness threatening to over take you. Like a faint ringing in your ears, so quiet you can barely hear it, but do, just the same.
Miscreation.
Mistake.
Monstrosity.
And the words seem to snake their way around your throat, and are strangling you, crushing the life right from you. All you can do
Originally I didn't want to write about this, for you never know what idiots you might attract, but somehow I couldn't get this out of my mind.
In my last poll I asked about looks and ideals of beauty, so I looked in an online dictionary if the term 'ideal of beauty' I remembered, is indeed the correct one. It was a completely normal online dictionary, with a forum function where you could ask for certain terms not listed in the main dictionary.
And there somebody had asked for the term 'ideal of beauty' and how to use it in a sentence. The first two or so answers were completely normal, but then suddenly somebody started talking about breas

Could someone please turn on civilisation again?
Today I watched an old episode of a scientific talk show on (sadly) Youtube, where a changing group of scientists, philosophers or similar discuss a certain topic together. They usually do that polite, intellectually and sympathetic (just writing this so you get an idea for which target audience this talk show is meant).
And in this episode there was a lady, she was a doctor or professor of something, can't remember. I scrolled down, for I wasn't looking for this episode but another one and wanted to see if it was linked under this episode.
My never-failing 'accidental glance to discover something bad' struck once more and I saw a comment
I had all this in my mind for quite some time now. You can comment, of course, but I don’t want to start any big discussions here, so I might not be answering. I just wanted to finally get these thoughts out of my head and a diary just would not have had the same effect here.
For quite some time now I noticed an increasing amount of stories – may it be a TV series, a game, book or movie – that are just crammed with sex, violence and characters so awful, you even can’t call them anti-heroes anymore.
I don’t wonder what caused that trend, after all I’m a child of the 80ies: it sells, money is everything! A

Not Liking Yaoi doesn't mean Homophobic
One of the arguments slash and yaoi fangirls tend to use on us is if we hate yaoi the genre, that makes us homophobic.
Well, I know plenty of gay men who don't like yaoi because it's not a genre that is actually written for them.
It really isn't. Yaoi itself is not aimed at gay men, it is a genre that is geared towards heterosexual, teenage girls primarily. And it usually involves straight men having a same sex relationship for the purpose to make the girls squee. Because for some strange reason, teenage girls these days find two men who are cute, and want to ship them together.
However, it leaves out a lot of things that real gay men a
So, a lot of the yaoi fangirls are coming here to attack people, calling us horrible for not liking their fetish. I mean, how dare we have an opinion on something, right?
You like Yaoi, that's fine, but there are those of us who do not. So, I found a posting that pulls out some bullet points as to why we aren't fans of the genre. I hope this settles it once and for all.
Yaoi fetishizes and objectifies gay men, and is often claimed to be a genre only for women. Female fans often dismiss male fans, and/or express anger over objection to ways that gay men are portrayed with a flippant "Well, it's not for you anyway!"

The Vomit Bags of the Internet
I just read a truly horrible comment - not here, but on Youtube (big surprise).
I pledged to never read the comments there again, because they make your brain bleed and your soul puke, but it happened accidentally.
Just imagine the worst misogynic crap you can and then double it, and not just one comment, but many, and when somebody answered to his comments, he answered in the same vile, stupid attitude.
I just sat there, aghast, and couldn't believe what I saw there. Things like that disgust me and make me very, very angry.
This time it was sexism, but it could also have been racism, homophobia, antisemitism or whatever, it's all the sa
Stuff I Say
So a few days ago I brought up the idea of running a realistic pokemon contest. I got a fairly good response so I will probably be doing it but I'd like to talk about a few things first. Here are a few of the options I've come up with:
1)Design a realistic pokemon from scratch with no real guidelines other than it should resemble real life animals.
2)Do an illustration using some of the designs I've already done. This option might make it more even for some artists who aren't confident in their skills in designing realism but still want to participate. Also if the contest focuses on my designs the winners could be used in
