Lugia Flight

Geez, is my picture too awesome for DA to handle? ...then this site needs to raise its standards. XD (But really deviantART -- what the hell? I spent hours working on this; LET ME SHOW IT.)

I just woke up after a tiring day and night...so I find myself not knowing what to say in this artist's comment. (Ahh, who knows what a more ideal bedtime would do for my productivity?)

Year five; I make another picture in honor of my favorite Pokemon, and for the anniversary of my entering digital media. I'm definitely happy to see how much I have improved over this time.

In coloring this beautiful creature, I usually try to make interesting and subtle color patterns. I also felt like incorporating gray and black in this painting -- I think I was inspired by another Lugia realism here on deviantART. I haven't totally abandoned feathers on this design -- how else would one get the "Silver Wing"? -- I just made patches of them on the wings. Maybe I should do a bird's eye view to display this. The way in which I gave Lugia its "fingers" was, again, inspired by the wing design for the Ikrans of Avatar.

I'm happy with how the sky came out. In truth, it's based on the sky I was under when I was first working on this painting. I was able to get the "lit membrane" effect again, which is hard to do without heavy shadows, aparently....
